Upgrade the Firmware

You can use the CTERA Portal to upgrade CTERA Edge Filer firmware.

Viewing Firmware in the CTERA Portal

To view all firmware in the CTERA Portal:

  1. In the global administration view, select Settings in the navigation pane.
    The Control Panel page is displayed.
  2. Select Firmware Repository, under SETTINGS in the Control Panel page.
    The Firmware Repository window is displayed. The window shows the firmware available in the portal firmware repository.
    The current firmware in the repository is marked with the
    image.png icon.

Uploading the Firmware

Uploading and installing CTERA Edge Filer firmware can be done automatically directly from the CTERA Portal.

To upload firmware:

  1. In the global administration view, select Settings in the navigation pane.
    The Control Panel page is displayed.
  2. Select Firmware Repository, under SETTINGS in the Control Panel page.
    The Firmware Repository window is displayed.
  3. Click Upload.
    The Upload Firmware Wizard opens displaying the Upload Firmware window.
  4. Click Upload and browse to the file to upload.
  5. Click Open.
    The firmware is uploaded to the edge filer and a completed window is displayed.
  6. Click FINISH.

Marking Firmware as the Current Firmware

When you mark firmware as the current firmware, all edge filers that are set to automatically download firmware will download this firmware.

Only one firmware is allowed on an edge filer.

To mark firmware as the current firmware:

  1. In the global administration view, select Settings in the navigation pane.
    The Control Panel page is displayed.
  2. Select Firmware Repository, under SETTINGS in the Control Panel page.
    The Firmware Repository window is displayed showing the firmware available in the repository.
  3. Select the firmware to make current.
  4. Click Mark as Current.

The selected firmware becomes the current firmware and is marked with the image.png icon.

To mark firmware as not current:

  1. In the global administration view, select Settings in the navigation pane.
  2. Select Firmware Repository, under SETTINGS in the Control Panel page.
    The Firmware Repository window is displayed showing the firmware available in the repository.
  3. Select the firmware row.
  4. Click Remove Current.
