Create an Array Diagnostic Report from VMware ESXi Using Windows

This procedure does not involve any edge filer downtime.

Prerequisites:

To set up the environment:

  1. The procedure to set up the environment is done once only.
  2. Install VMware vSphere CLI for Windows.
  3. Add the vSphere CLI folder (esxcli) path, such as c:\Program Files\hp\hpssaducli\bin, to the beginning of the value string for the Path system variables.
    Note: Use \\ instead of \ if necessary.
    If you do not set this path you cannot successfully run the 
    HPSSADUESXIcommand.
  4. Install HP SSADU CLI for Windows (or Extract followed by running the MSI package, if running Windows on a virtual machine).
  5. Add the HP SSADU CLI folder path, such as c:\Program Files\hp\hpssaducli\bin, to the beginning of the value string for the Path system variables.
    Note: Use \\ instead of \ if necessary.

To create the report:

  1. In the Windows machine, open a command prompt window.
  2. Enter the command hpssaduesxi --server=gateway_IP --user=root --password=PASSWORD adureport.zip
    where gateway_IP is the IP address of the edge filer and PASSWORD is the password for the ESXI root user.

The ADU report is saved in the adureport.zip file in the current folder.

Note: If the report is not successfully generated, use ADUReportESXi.enc and esxcli.log to find the reason for the report failing.
